Snapshot Sunday--ER Edition

I was in the middle of downloading my pictures for today's Snapshot Sunday, thinking about all the toy weapons around my family room, when I heard Gerrick open the door from the garage and yell, "Mama, Daddy is hurt!" Before I even got up, Rick had come in and was dripping blood across the carpet on his way to the kitchen sink. Nice. He sliced the top of his hand open with a wood chisel. So off to the ER we went to spend the rest of our afternoon. He got stitches and a tetanus shot, and now he's trying to figure out how to get blood out of carpet. Any tips?

Love the photos--the mummy is great! So sorry to hear about the ER visit. And, the blood. I'm consulting my book, 2,001 Amazing Cleaning Secrets, and it says:

"For carpeting, spray with COLD water and blot with a clean WHITE towel (white, so there's no chance of dye transfer). Continue until clean."

Geez...that seems too simple, doesn't it? Good luck!!!!

OUCH!!!

As a student Midwife I DO know a nice trick for blood on carpet. I have cleaned large pools of it out of white carpet using a wet vac and hydrogen peroxide. For small stains you can dab the peroxide on the cotton swab and blot out until it is clean.

If it is a large area I pour the HP on the clients carpet and then use the vac to suck it up. I once had to use 20 bottles to get it all up!

IT WORKS!

Sending healing vibes to the hubby.

LOVE the pictures--we have tons of plastic swords around here--I swear they are everywhere.

Peroxide takes blood out very well.

Ouch, and not a fun way to spend a sunday afternoon! Love the photos!

BTW, I pulled out the Amateur Naturalist out today, Fauna has been reading it all afternoon. She has her heart set on catching a chipmunk or a mouse now. The book has inspired her to draw and write a plan as well on how to catch one. Thanks for the inspiration to pull out that fantastic book!

Sherry, these are *fantastic* pictures! So funny - there's a 'sharp' (though some are toys) objects in every one.

Happy everyone is okay!

I hear having the person who bled on it spit on the spot helps to break the blood down, then rinse with COLD water.

LOL. We always have weapons of one sort or another lying around, too. I'm sorry your hubby got hurt for real, though!

Also love how you organize your game pieces. So simple and easy to find!

Peroxide WILL get the blood out. If it soaked down into the padding, you may have to peel the carpet back and treat the padding too. But it will work. Been there, done that. ;o)
