Level 1
Day 1--This is hard! I can already tell I'm going to be sore!
Day 2--My arms and shoulders were very sore this morning. Yesterday I used 3lb weights; today I dropped down to 2lb. I was afraid I wasn't going to make it through the first circuit; I literally yelled myself through the (modified) push-ups! But once I got into circuit 2, I knew I would make it,though it certainly wasn't easy. Right now I'm feeling pretty good, but I'm expecting serious pain by tomorrow. Must find our ibuprofen!
Day 3--When I woke up this morning I was less sore than I was yesterday morning. Getting through the workout was easier, too. I feel great, and I'm so glad I decided to do this. I no longer feel like a bag of jello; I'm feeling stronger. I highly recommend steady doses of ibuprofen, though. :)
Day 4--I feel my endurance steadily increasing, though I'm still doing modified versions and sticking with my 2lb weights. Circuit 1 is still really tough for me with the push-ups & shoulder presses.
Day 5--Only used modified form for push-ups. Felt pretty good during the workout. Afterward, I sat down and drank some water and suddenly felt light-headed. I ate a piece of turkey bacon because I thought maybe I needed some food (had had only a fiber one bar with coffee 2 hrs earlier)and felt worse--like I was going to puke, then faint. I lay in the floor for about 10 minutes and started feeling a little better, ate a Fruit Chillers sorbet tube and felt much better. Maybe I overdid the cardio? Felt fine the rest of the day with very little soreness and no ibuprofen.
Day 6--I really didn't want to do this today, but I'm really glad I made myself. I moved back up to 3lb weights for circuits 2 & 3. Circuit 1 is still tough, though, so I'm sticking with 2lb for it.
Day 7--I didn't get around to the workout until 8pm. I'm definitely going to continue doing it in the a.m. whenever possible, my lack of energy tonight made it seem to last longer than usual.
Day 8--Even though this is still a good, tough workout I'm getting bored with doing it every day. I'm ready to move on to level 2 just to change things up a bit, but I'm going to give myself 2 more days.
Day 9--Just one more day of level 1 to go! :)
Day 10--Good bye, Level 1!!!!! I'll be taking my measurements in the morning.
BMI--23.8 (-.3)
weight--152 (-2lb)
chest--37" (-2.5")
waist--31" (-1.5")
hips--42" (-.5")
arm--11.5" (0)
thigh--24" (-.5")
If I were measuring weight alone, I would have been discouraged! Ten years ago in my mid 20's I'm sure I would have dropped at least 5 or 6 pounds. So I'm also assuming the older I get the harder it will be to lose. It's so important that I lose the excess fat and gain as much muscle as I can right now. Then as I age I can focus on maintaining, which will be tough, but won't seem impossible. :)
Level 2
Day 11--TOUGH!...serious sweat!
Day 12--I was in fear of dehydration yesterday, but today was a bit better.
Day 13--This is so hard! Do not even attempt this if you are not seriously motivated and determined to get in better shape.
Day 14--This is pure torture!! But I'm pressing on...
Day 15--Half-way over! Woohoo! Wait...ONLY half-way? :(
Day 16--I'm really tired of doing this day after day! But...tonight I managed to use 3lb weights throughout the whole workout. Prior to tonight I've had to use 2lb during the shoulder presses in circuit 3. I know I'm getting stronger--but it sure isn't any fun.
[skipping a day, PMS headache]
[skipping another day, cramps & fitness apathy]
[skipping a 3rd day! :( determined to start back tomorrow]
Day 17--Back on track! :D
Day 18--I may have overextended myself yesterday; I hobbled through tonight with pain in my left knee. I have ice on it as I'm typing this.
[skipping another day.:( My knee still hurts, and I'm developing cold symptoms.]
[skipping yet another day. This cold has sucked my energy, & I should probably let my knee rest more anyway. At this rate it's going to take me 60 days to finish this thing!]
[another day lost]
Day 19--Feels great to be back. I took it easy and did modified lunges and planks to protect my knee which still feels a little weak.
[This is getting ridiculous, I know. I was out of town all day and my DH worked 'til 9pm, I just didn't have the energy tonight.]
[sick again!:(]
[been through too many tissues to count]
Day 20--FINALLY, done with Level 2!
BMI--23.3 (-.8)
weight--149 (-5lb)
chest--36.5 (-3")
waist--30.5 (-2")
hips--42 (-.5")
arm--11.5 (0)
thigh--23.5 (-1")
[skipped 2 days--no excuses.]
Level 3
Day 21--Whew! Tough, but not any tougher than the first two levels were to me on the first days. I stuck with Anita for the most part and used 2lb weights again. There's no way I could have done this level first, or even second though. I've gotten so much stronger. Call me crazy, but I think I actually like this level best. ;)
[skipped a day--my inner thighs are really sore, but skipped b/c workouts so easily drop down the priority list until it's too late or I'm just too tired]
Day 22--check
Day 23--check
[no way, today I spent my energy here]
[no again, today I went here]
[nope, went here]
[ya know, I think since I can comfortably fit into my favorite jeans again, it just isn't a priority anymore...but, I know if I don't keep shredding (or something) they'll be too tight again before I know it!]

I'm expecting 30 Day Shred in the mail tomorrow, I can't wait to get started! :-)
I cannot help but wonder whether doing Jari Love workouts over the past couple of months will lessen the pain from Jillian's workout--I'll find out soon enough though, won't I? :-)
Day 1 done yay!!! I am hoping to get mine out of the way this afternoon. I think I will do the same layout you have if that's okay?
Sure, I'm all for sharing. :)
Everyone feel free to use my log format or adapt it to meet your needs.
Good luck. I am going to need to join you in a 2 months.
Good for you.
So I got through the first day. It seems really doable quick and to the point right. Here is my log or should I say my info on the log you created. Thanks for that.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by from Chelita's blog!
Good luck on your shred. I've never heard of it, but it sounds hard. I wish you the best! And thanks for the encouragement in homeschooling. Some days, I really feel like I need it as I'm home with him all the time already!
(I'm so glad I can leave a comment again! Agh! I was having some weird issues with it lately!)
I just finally saw The Shred at the store... and got scared! LOL! Good luck!
Yay, way to go! It does get easier... but I just got a preview of Level 2 and I don't know if I'm ready to move on to Level 2 at all! IT seems so much harder, LOL! But then the beauty of the program is that it's only 20 minutes long... so I keep my eyes on the clock and that really helps.
way to go mama!!
Good Luck!
I hope that your shred journey goes well!
Alright Sherry...it was really easy for me, but I credit that to doing Jari Love for the past couple of months. I had no problem breezing through level 1. Push-ups are always tough, but I was able to do 10 regularly and the rest modified. However, push-ups with Love? I have to break even in modified position.
However, I'm going to do Love and Michaels tomorrow, except I'll try Jillian's Level 2. :-)
You know, I should video myself doing Level 1...so you don't think I'm talkin' smack, lol. :-)
lol--I don't think you're talkin' smack. :)
If you've been doing Jari Love for a couple of months you've got to be pretty strong by now. But I do think you're crazy if you do Jillian and Jari in the same day! :)
good for you and wishing you much success (weight loss)
2 days down way to go!!! I find the first circuit to be the hardest the jumping jacks and pushups are killer. But once I get through the 1st circuit. I was thinking about not doing it until my calves feel better but decided to just stick to the beginner level til I feel better, modified everything for me. :)
Glad to hear it's getting easier for you I am a little less sore but still I am having a time getting through pushups.
I am completely on the same page, pushups still kickin my butt and the modified works for me. :) Well four days down 26 to go. Keep pushing.
Stopping by to check out your day 5 post. Hope you got a chance to fit it in. here is where I am keeping my log.

Have a wonderful 4th of July.
I am glad you stuck it out yesterday i was thinking about skipping to. only 3 more days of circuit 1 let's finish strong shall we. :) Hope you had a wonderful 4th.
hey at least you pushed it out. I am with you though I like to get it done earlier when I am not already spent.
yea i am just going through the motions to but I am a little worried about starting workout 2 it took me some days to get used to 1
You're doing great! :-)
I was sick from the 3rd until yesterday. I did level 2 on Saturday and didn't have trouble with the weights, however, I did have to break a couple times during the last two cardio segments.
I really admire you, Sherry. Your positive attitude and "realness" are infectious.
Have a Super Day ~ Sandy
Level 2 was a dousy I thought it wouldn't be that bad since we had been doing level 1 for the last week but leave it to Jillian. (ouch, that's all I can say)
Don't forget...muscle weighs more than fat so don't let the pounds discourage you!! (easier said than done...I know!) Keep it up!
Day 4 of level 1 I know it was getting easier not so with level 2 it is still extremely hard. I must thank you for commmenting today because as I was folding my laundry I was contemplating not working out today then I got your message so thanks for the push that i needed to get my butt in gear and get it done. :) tommorrow we'll be at the half way mark (yay)
I actually didn't do day 16 my oldest daughter said i should do it twice today for missing it yesterday, I don't know about that but Yay for you for moving up to 3lbs weights i can only get through circuit 3 strength if i use no weights at all.
okay now that I see that you skipped three days this week I don't feel so bad, hope you are feeling better. I haven't quit I just went out of town for a couple days to take the kids to visit my mom and honestly did think about working out once while I was there. So what is the plan are you extending to make up the three days or just skipping them all together, let me know because I will do whatever you do. :)
I'm picking up at day 17--still planning on actually doing the dvd 30 days. :)
I really hope your knee is feeling better :( last two days of level 2 more than half way there. :)
after trying out level 3 today I think i want to go back to level 1. :)
Glad your feeling better. :)
Yay for finishing level 2. :) Can't wait to see what you think of level 3
I am leaning towards level 3 I think if i ever get through these 30 days I will probably still do level 3 2-3 times a week. for me it's a little hard on the knees. :)
I'm thinking the same thing. :)
i havent given up but i am like you I just can't seem to find time for these last 7. hopefully i will be able to get the next 3 days. :)
